SNEI is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees. The activities and programmes of the organisation are largely executed by environmentally-sensitive partners under the guidance of the Programme Coordinator. Financial support is received from friends of the environment and professionals help the Programme Coordinator in project implementation and management. Also, small staff team supports decision making and action, while involving the local communities in project ownership for efficient and effective service delivery.

National Coordinator -Ernest Afiesimama

Mrs. Hadiza Ibrahim Mailafia is a mother, teacher, orator and motivator. She advocates and champions environmental development.  Mrs Mailafia is meticulous and proactive with an inclusive leadership style. She is passionate about environmental sustainability and has concern for the menace of erosion, floods and desertification in the country.

 She was an External Examiner, West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), between 1984 and 1989 and also an External Examiner for National Teachers Institute (NTI) Kaduna from 1985 to 1990.

She served as Director-General, Bureau of Rural and Urban Water Resources from 1992 to 1994. Between 1994 and 1995 she also served as Director-General in the Ministry of Agriculture; Director-General, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, (1995 to 1997) before being appointed as Honourable Commissioner at the Ministry of Water Resources and Urban Development between 1997 and 1999.

alia as Member, Kaduna State Liabilities Verification Committee; Member, Kaduna State Water Board; Member, Board of Directors CCNN, Sokoto; Member, Kaduna State Official Haji Delegates; Member, Nigeria Trade Mission to Egypt and United Arab Emirate; Chairperson, Establishment Committee CCNN, Sokoto; Member, Government Delegate to Hajj 1996; Member, Board of Zaria Pharmaceutical Company. In March 2011 she became President, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Kaduna State Chapter.

National Coordinator -Ernest Afiesimama

Ernest A. Afiesimama holds a first class (B.Tech) degree in Meteorology and Master of Sciences (Distinction) degree in Hydrology and Water Resources and Ph.D in Climatology. He also holds Weather Observer(CLIV) and Weather Forecaster (CLII) professional certificates with distinctions. He has advanced diploma in electrical/electronic engineering and other postgraduate certificates in environmental and climate related fields.

He lectured at World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Meteorological Regional Training Centre (MRTC), Lagos for over 15 years and supervised over 25 undergraduate and post graduate students.

Dr Afiesimama is a senior associate of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (Physics of Weather and Climate Group), Trieste, Italy. He is a member of the African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analyses (AMMA) International Scientific Steering Committee (ISSC) and also the Chair of Scientific Committee of AMMA in Africa.  He is a member of some professional bodies including the American Meteorological Society, Nigerian Meteorological Society and Nigerian Hydrogeological Association. He is a member of the WMO JSC WWRP.

National Coordinator -Ernest Afiesimama

Jinyebarimiema Eli Abibo, Esq. obtained his Bachelor of Law (LL.B) at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2004and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2005. He started his practice as a pupil counsel between 2005 and 2006in the firm of Inno. D. Daa’gba & Co, Shepherd’s Chambers, Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State where he was responsible for General Litigations and taking notes from clients during conferences and briefings.

He later joined the law firm of Granville Abibo, SAN & Co. in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in late 2006 as a Junior Counsel where he had the responsibilities of General Litigations, Drafting of Pleading, Legal Opinion, Submissions and Arguments on applications and final addresses on matters before Law Courts.

In 2007, he joined the firm of Austin Rubby & Eli, in Abuja, as an Associate Solicitor where he was involved in General Litigations, Proffering Legal Opinion and Drafting of Pleadings. He made legal submissions and arguments on applications and finaladdresses on matters before superior courts of records.

National Coordinator -Ernest Afiesimama

Alhaji Salisu Auwal,mni is a graduate of Political Science from Bayero University, Kano with over 30 years experience in the Public Service.  In the course of his duties in the Nigerian Public Service, he attended more than twenty-five (25) Career Development programmes in recognized training institutions both within and outside the country.  AlhajiAuwal has also served in various committees some of which were:

the 1999 Presidential Technical committee on Local Government Reforms, Federal Government Committee on Aforestation, the 1993 Presidential Election Monitoring Group, Ajaokuta Steel Company Auction Review Committee, Committee on upgrading of the Training curriculum of NIMET Regional Training Centre and also represented Nigeria at the World Council of Mayors Conference in Alabama, USA in year 2000.

Mrs Stella A. Afiesimama obtained her Bachelor of Sciences (B.Sc.) degree in Banking and Finance from Lagos State University, Lagos State. She has been in Secretariat and General Services Consultancy for over 20 years.

 

She is presently a Manager at STERN INTEGRATED PROJECTS, which is involved in Environmental Management and Human Capacity Development.

She has worked with different communities at the grass root in economic empowerment programmes due to her fluency in many Nigerian languages and ability to communicate with rural women. 

She is involved in charity activities and hopes to bring her experience in rural communities’ activities to SAVE NIGERIAN ENVIRONMENT INITIATIVE.

Hassan Shuaib Musa holds a B.Tech and M.Tech in Meteorology from Federal University of
Technology, Minna and PhD in Environmental Resources Planning from University of Abuja, Nigeria.

 

He is a senior lecturer and a one-time departmental post graduate programme coordinator of geography and environmental management department, University of Abuja, Nigeria.

 

He is an applied hydro/agro meteorologist and applied climatologist with over fifteen years teaching experience. He has written over seventeen publications that appear in journals and proceedings of conferences and workshops. He has severally served as a socio-economic expert on Technical Review Panels on EIA documents for the Federal Ministery of Environment in Nigeria. He also served in the Team that wrote the just concluded ‘Second Communication on Climate Change in Nigeria’ sponsored by UNDP.
